About Us
The Rabbi Dr. Joseph Breuer Foundation was established in 1982 for the purpose of furthering the legacy of Rabbi Dr. Joseph Breuer (1882-1980), one of the leading proponents of the Hirschian teachings. The prolific writings in German of Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch (1808-1888) are the wellsprings of Rabbi Breuer’s teachings. The Foundation undertook to publish Rabbi Hirsch’s works, as well as those who follow in his way, to promote the Hirschian legacy.
In his final words Rabbi Breuer urged that:
“The works of Rabbiner Hirsch must be spread here (in the United States in English) and in Eretz Yisroel (in Hebrew).”
With this mission in mind, the Rabbi Dr. Joseph Breuer Foundation has succeeded, over the last 40 years, to publish and disseminate the works of Hirschian literature, making them available to the Torah world at large.
